The SMC AQ Series Quick Exhaust Valve is designed to significantly increase the speed of pneumatic actuators, particularly cylinders, by providing a direct path for exhaust air. It is typically installed between the directional control valve and the cylinder. When the control valve is deactivated, the quick exhaust valve closes the inlet from the control valve and opens a direct path from the cylinder to the atmosphere, allowing air to escape rapidly without traveling back through the longer piping to the control valve. This setup is especially effective when the distance between the cylinder and the main control valve is long, as it shortens the exhaust path, reduces cycling time, and improves overall equipment efficiency. The valve operates with three ports (P: pressure supply, A: output to actuator, T: exhaust to atmosphere) and functions automatically based on pressure differentials.
